Bikes of Nitrous Forum

Now that we have a dedicated bike section, lets post our bikes. Please give details if you would. Getting info for sprayed bikes is not easy and the reason we added the bike section. So any details could help the newbie. I will start off with my Harley.

Also if you have any links for bikes and spray please add them too. Write ups and how-tos would be welcome also.

Thanks
Robert

Here's mine. It's a '99 Special Construction, Hardtail Chopper running a '75 IronHead-1000cc. I did all the work myself except the paint. I have had a dry kit on it and currently a wet kit. It is Hybrid kit based on NOS Powershot solenoids. I have a master switch, with a WOT micro sw mounted on the carb, then I have the horn button converted as the go button. So it must be armed and at WOT before the horn (NOS) can be activated. Then the right turn signal button has been converted to operate the purge which is released between the handle bars, facing forward. I haven't had it at the track yet due to clutch slipping. It is a heavy duty Barnett item, but I just can't seem to get the slipping to stop at WOT. It is a pretty stout clutch and kills my hand if I have to hold it in very long, much harder than my blown Harley clutch. I will do a thread on spray clutches later for insight and advice.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the bike is based on the Harley XLCH, a kick start only version of the Sportster Ironhead. It was Harleys stripped down lighter version and in 1975 was the fastest/quickest machine produced in the USA, even beat the Corvette. I have a original Bike magazine where they tested this model at the track, bonestock it ran low 12s, IIRC. I will look for it.

I need to add some torque braces before I get serious about racing this beast.

I love that color, kind of like the Torch Red on my Vette. When the sun is hitting it seems like it's glowing, though am sure yours stands out more than mine, lol. Have you got any 1/4 mile runs yet? I know some of the stock times with good riders ends up being pretty damn quick. Absolutely slaughters the 12.x my bike could run stock. Oh yea, I didn't see a bottle, plan on spraying?

Thanks, thats the reason I went with this color. Some people dont like it, but I love it and its not a color you see everyday. At the track, I went 11.5@ 125 with a 2.0 60', so theres plenty more left in it with a good rider this is my first motorcycle ever so im still trying to learn. Ive considered spraying it, but it wont be til after I learn to launch and ride it better.

Hell that's not bad at all. I think that's the biggest draw back to getting more guys drag racing their bikes, the launch. I know i have reservations, and I am too a beginer. been riding for many, many years but new to the all-out launch with drag racing. There is a guy that races pro, he posted in the BS car of the forum, and might give us insight on launching and clutches. I will start a new thread and see what we can learn.

I'll have to find or take some pics of my bike and post them. There's a pic or 2 already posted on this site...
